K. Daphnae Koop ’79 came second place in a juried art show sponsored by the Benedictine Center of St. Paul Monastery. Sixty artists entered their art for the showing and the top three winners shared a $375 prize.
The exhibition, Seeing God, focused around local artists who capture a sense of the divine in their artistic process. Koop's entry, Heaven Unexpected Came, is an intelligent combination of carved wooden panels that have been painted and inlaid with shattered glass.
Seeing God is one part of the Art and Spirituality series designed by the Benedictine Center to show how art is sustainable both economically and soulfully, deepening human awe for the beauty of creation. Part of this mission is their continued sponsorship of area artistry and public exhibitions.
